GREAT NEWS!!!! BOY IS HOME!!!!

Ten more Chimps were just migrated to Save the Chimps Sanctuary in Fort Pierce Florida. Boy was one of the first ones on the bus. I am so happy that he is finally home where he can roam free on his island with his family!

Boy is around 40 years old. He has had a hard life. He was captured in Africa when he was just a baby and spent almost his whole life in research labs, where he lived in a small cage. These research labs did terrible things to Boy, where he had to have lots of surgery and lots of tests.

In 2002 Save the Chimps rescued almost 300 chimpanzees from the Coulston Foundation and Boy was one of them. I have never met Boy and I don’t know if I ever will. But that’s ok because I am so happy just to know he is free to be on his island. If I get any pictures of Boy on the island I will post them so you can see!

  1. He's a handsome guy! I am happy for Boy and the other 9 chimnps who made it to Ft. Pierce. I know you are feeling so much better about Boy now that he will be on an island with others of his kind.

  3. Brandon,
Have you ever seen the series "Escape to Chimp Eden" on Animal Planet? It's about a sanctuary in South Africa that rescues abused and neglected chimps and rehabilitates them. They are hoping to return these chimps to the wild. Animal Planet is no longer airing the series but the DVD of Season one is available and Season Two can be downloaded from itunes. I think you would really enjoy it.

  5. Do you have a Facebook account? I have all the photos I took when I visited Chimp Eden posted on my account. I don't have a favorite though. I fell in love with them all but I did feel a special bond with Amadeus, the alpha male of the adult group. He sat by the fence and stared at me for a long time! Looking into his beautiful eyes was an awesome experience.

  6. No I don't have one I am to young. I can go on my mom's her name is Deanna you can find her on there. She lets be go to the chimp groups and play games sometimes. I will have to look for Amadeus. There is a chimp named pepsi at save the chimps and he has yellow green eyes. more yellow. He also likes to point at your feet to see toes. I loved going there and meeting the chimps!

  7. They are incredible animals, aren't they? Cozy at Chimp Eden will stomp his foot at you and expect you to stomp back. Then he will stomp faster and faster until he is drumming his feet and loves watching you do it with him. Zac will jump and down with you and make a play face. Zee would push a stick under the fence for you to use to tickle her feet. She would slap at her feet when it tickled but put them back up for you to tickle again. They all have unique and special personalities and the time I spent with them was the best time of my life.

  8. This is inspiring, I'd love to work with rescue projects, one of my favorite places is a Donkey Sanctuary in southern England! Keep up the good work you show others the way.
